Description

Right now they're returned in whatever order the update tools provide them. In the case of Debian based systems this is usually the transformed output from apt-get dist-upgraded -s which I believe is the installation order.

Is the existing order a bad thing? Perhaps this can be implemented by specifying a default sorting order and then offer the ability to override it.
